Minimally Invasive & Endoscopic Paediatric Procedures

Speciality

Modern Techniques for Selected Paediatric Conditions

Minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures allow doctors to examine or treat certain conditions through small incisions or natural body openings. These methods may be considered for selected newborns and children when they are appropriate for the diagnosis and the patient's overall condition.

The choice between an open, laparoscopic or endoscopic procedure is made only after clinical evaluation. The safest and most suitable approach may differ from one child to another.

Procedures

Procedures We Perform

Paediatric Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy uses a camera and specialised instruments introduced through small incisions. It may be used for selected abdominal, urological and other surgical conditions in children.

Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy allows the surgeon to examine the urinary passage and bladder using a fine endoscope. It may be used for diagnosis or treatment in selected paediatric urology cases.

Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is used to examine the airway and may be required when a child has certain breathing or airway-related concerns, including suspected foreign-body aspiration.

Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy allows examination of the upper digestive tract and may be advised for selected diagnostic or treatment requirements.

Before and After

What Parents Can Expect

Before the procedure, the doctor explains why it is required, the type of anaesthesia, fasting instructions, expected duration and possible recovery needs. After the procedure, parents receive guidance about food, activity, medicines, warning signs and follow-up.
